제목 Reactive processing system for carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide-6 composite
초록 Recently there are tremendous interests towards thermoplastic-based composite because it can be welded or recycled upon melting, and be manufactured tougher and faster than thermoset-based composite. However, it is hard to be manufactured using original resin transfer molding (RTM) process, owing to the high viscosity of polymer melts. So reaction injection molding (RIM) has been suggested for the thermoplastic-based composite, where the low viscosity monomer melts instead of polymer melts are injected into the mold, and following in-situ polymerization enables to produce the thermoplastic-based composite. Recently we developed the RIM system for carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide-6 composite. The anionic ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactam was utilized with a proper activator and initiator for polyamide-6 matrix. The produced carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide-6 (PA-6) composite was discussed in terms of mechanical properties.
