Biocomposite of cellulose diacetate(CDA)/kenaf fiber was prepared by melting process. In order to compatibilize the kenaf fibre with CDA, kenaf was reacted with benzyl chloride in the presence of NaOH. The benzylated kenaf fibre was compound with the plasticized CDA by twin screw extruder. The structural feature of the benzylated fibre was determined by FTIR. The mechanical and thermal properties of the biocomposite were investigated by DMA and TGA, respectively. The morphology of the composite was observed by SEM. |
