제목 Electrodeposited Ni-P-B catalysts with high activity for hydrogen evolution reaction in acidic medium
초록 Among the catalysts used in water electrolysis, the noble metal catalyst represented by Pt is known as the best HER catalyst as a cathode, but there is a problem of high cost and scarcity. To solve this problem, similar efficiency but low-cost and earth-abundant electrode materials (transition metal, M) have been developed.
In this study, Ni-P-B was prepared on the carbon paper substrate using electrodeposition method. By adjusting the B/P ratio, the properties of M-P electron transfer (electronegativity) and M-Bx (x < 2) reverse-electron transfer (vacant d-orbital) can optimize the electronic structure. Their catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction was tested in half-cell measurement with the acidic electrolyte. Furthermore, employing the optimized catalyst in cathode, the performance of proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer was tested.
