The removal of H2S is very important in various industrial gases because H2S is not only the major toxic gas and malodorous gas, but also a corrosive gas towards pipelines and equipment. Therefore, efficient methods for their removal are needed. In this study, the PEI-loaded silica sorbent was prepared by a wet impregnation method. The H2S sorption capacities were measured on PEI-loaded silica sorbent at various H2S concentrations and temperatures. The highest H2S sorption capacity was 2.7 mmol S/g sorbent obtained with 4.0 vol% H2S at 20 °C. The H2S sorption capacity increased with increasing H2S concentration in the range 0.5-4.0 vol.%. Also, with increasing reaction temperature in the range 20-50 °C, the H2S capture capacity decreased. The adsorption isotherms of the PEI-loaded silica sorbent were well described by Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. |
