제목 Adsorption Characteristics of Copper Ions Using Alginate Bead
초록 In this work, activated carbon-alginate composite (AAC)beads were made to remove copper ions. The composite particles were prepared by mixing different amounts of powdered activated carbons with sodium alginate solution (1:0.5; 1:1; 1:2), and then the adsorption characteristics of AAC beads was investigated to adsorb copper ions. Adsorption equilibrium data of copper onto the beads could be represented by Langmuir isotherm equation. Equilibrium adsorption capacity of copper ion onto the beads was maximum at pH 5. Intrapaticle diffusion could be explained by the pore diffusion model. Adsorption behavior in a fixed-bed was measured the terms of feed initial concentration, bed height and flow rate. The breakthrough curves were satisfactorily simulated by linear driving force approximation (LDFA). Alginate-activated carbon composite beads, prepared in this work, could be used to remove copper ion.
