Biodegradable polymer nanoparticles have been extensively studied as a drug delivery system. In this study, we prepared a PEG-PLLA-PDLLA tri-block copolymer. Layered polymer nanoparticles were obtained by an emulsion-solvent evaporation method from the tri-block copolymer. The PEG chains on the surface created the hydrophilic barriers to stabilize the nanoparticles. The PLLA-PDLLA blocks formed a hydrophobic core. The outer layer of the hydrophobic core was expected to comprise a PLLA block and to have high crystallinity, which would control the drug release rate. Doxorubicin, a hydrophobic anti-cancer drug, was loaded in the core of the nanoparticle and its release behavior was investigated. |
