Membrane technology has been found to be an attractive approach for separation, because both processability and energy efficiency are good. The important goal in membrane technology is to control membrane micro-structure, which affects the membrane performance. Thus extensive research has been conducted in attempting to improve the performance of membrane. Generally, polyethersulfone (PES) is widely used for the preparation of microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and gas separation membranes. PES microfiltration (MF) membranes and PES/PNIPAm hydrogel composite membranes were prepared by phase inversion method. PES/PNIPAm hydrogel composite membranes were compared with PES MF membranes by SEM. The permeate flux of composite membranes was not deteriorated compared with PES MF membranes by flux test cell. The application of hydrogel microspheres to the composite membranes improved the durability and recycle ability of membranes. |
