Recently conducting polymers (CPs) have been widely investigated due to their ion-exchange behavior during charging and discharging process and considered a potential alternative to conventional actuator. In particular, polypyrrole (PPy) is most promising CP actuator materials in a view point of high electrical conductivity and ease of synthesis. Meanwhile the development of specific ion selective sensor for application in clinical, industrial, and environmental is an on-going challenge. However, specific ion selective sensor has problems which are lack of manufacturing technique in matrix, high price, and complicated usage. Therefore, from remarking the importance of specific ion detection in solution and the potential of CP actuator as an ion selective sensor material, we constructed CP actuators based on various types of PPy-ionophore composite films for sodium ion selective sensor and investigated the effect of actuation according to sodium, magnesium, potassium, and calcium ions. |
