제목 Polystyrene Derivatives for LCD Alignment Layers
초록 We synthesized a series of polystyrene derivatives using polymer analogous reactions to investigate their liquid crystal (LC) alignment properties. The electro-optical and LC alignment properties of the LC cells made from polystyrene derivatives were examined using rubbed, UV-Vis, and ion beam treated polystyrene derivatives films as the LC alignment layers. The LC alignment behavior was correlated with surface energy of the polymer films and orientation of polymer chains. The effect of polymer molecular structure on the LC alignment behavior could be studied very systematically. This paper provides important information required for the design of novel polymeric alignment layers for advanced display.
