We have been searching a new ion exchange material in the form of fiber which could get large advantages against conventional bead type. In this approach, an effective ion exchange fiber is prepared by coupling of polyacrylonitrile and ethylenediamine. AlCl3 ∙6H2O was added for catalyst. The synthesized ion exchange fiber (PAEA) achieved 7.8meq/g and 3.21 mmol Cu2+/g. The coupling process and capacity were confirmed through FT-IR, acid-base neutralization titration, ICP, IC and AAS. By means of verifying the bonding peaks ( hydrogen and ionic bonding) with several pH, we were aware of the steric and static structure of PAEA in the Cu2+ and CrO42- ion solution. Because the properties of PAEA were considerably changed after synthesis reaction and adsorption, AFM was employed to confirm the surface morphology. For a dynamic test, well refined and dried PAEA was measured up to 60 grams. Compare with batch test, the PAEA of adsorption ability was low (about 1.6mmol Cu2+/g of PAEA) and didn't approach maximum (192mmol Cu2+/60g of PAEA). |
