Novel Fused Thiophene Semiconducting Polymer for Organic Thin-Film Transistors |

Polythiophenes have been widely studied due to their attractive electronic and optical properties. An interesting application is the use of these materials as the active semiconducting layer in OTFTs where solution processability can be exploited in the fabrication of large area, low cost, and flexible devices. Recently, new polythiophenes and their analogues with various fused aromatic rings in their backbones have been reported to show even higher carrier mobility relative to regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (rrP3HT). In this work, we designed and synthesized novel polythiophene containing benzothienothiophene unit. We focused our attention on highly π-extended heteroacene with five fused thiophene ring. The chemical and physical properties of the polymer were characterized by 1H-NMR, GPC, UV-Vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. OTFT device results using the polymer were also investigated. Detailed results will be presented in the presentation. |
