In this study, we firstly synthesized 4-methylbenzyl-1-vinyl imidazolium chloride, [MBVI]+[Cl]-, by reaction of imidazole and ,’dichloroparaxylene in dimethylformide. Subsequently, we synthesized the polymer by SN2 reaction of PVC and [MBVI]+[Cl]- as cross linker in cyclohexanone. The obtained anion exchange membrane with [MBVI]+[Cl]- as cross linker was characterized by FT-IR, contact angle, XPS, optical microscope, SEM, thermal property, ion conductivity, ion-exchange capacity, and ionic permeability. The vanadium redox flow battery performance was done using the prepared anion-exchange membrane in order to know the applied possibility in organic electrolyte. |
