The amphiphilic monomer of 4-(4-vinylphenly)pyridine (4VPPy), which was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction, was polymerized by anionic polymerization. To optimize living conditions for anionic polymerzation, various conditions such as various initiator, reaction time, etc. were utilized. In addition, the block copolymerization of 4VPPy with 2-vinylpyridine (2VP) and methy methacrylate (MMA) was carried out to show the living natures of 4VPPy and to investigate the nucleophilictiy of living poly 4-(4-vinylphenly)pyridine (P4VPPy). With the resulting polymers, it was confirmed that the P4VPPy has different solubility and polymerization time from poly 2-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine due to the different location of Nitrogen in pyridine ring. |
