Electrochemical Properties of Conducting Polymer Composites Prepared by Vapor Deposition Polymerization |

Polypyrrole (PPy) nano-layer was coated on a substrate using vapor deposition polymerization (VDP). Co-vapors were introduced with the pyrrole monomer during the VDP to tailor the physical properties of the PPy composites. In particular, the electrochemical properties of the PPy composites depended on the nature of co-vapors used. The conductivity of the composites prepared with polar vapors was three times higher than that of the control sample prepared with no co-vapor. It is believed that the chain orientation of PPy was considerably influenced by the co-vapors with high dipole moments. The specific capacitance of the PPy composites were also examined to give more insight on the above result. |
