To manage the problematic heat in the electronic devices, reactive monomer was newly synthesized for an anisotropic heat managing (HM) materials with outstanding thermal conductivity. Reactive monomer was rod-shaped liquid crystal (RLC) that has smectic A liquid crystal phase. The HM films were fabricated by the photopolymerizaton of RLC in liquid crystal phase and isotropic phase. The HM films exhibited outstanding thermal conductivity polymerization in both phases. In addition, the heat transfer properties of HM films can be increased by the packing and orientation of RLC. Uniaxially oriented HM films exhibited significant thermal conductivity along the direction of RLC core. Therefore, thermal conducting RLC can be used as anisotropic heat managing materials with outstanding heat conductivity and guiding ability.
