Preparation of iron oxide using PEO -b- PMAHD- DOX for the tumor cell imaging |

A variety of polymerizations of N-phenylmaleimide(N-PMI) via several mechanisms have been reported by several groups. Especially, anionic polymerization of N-phenylmaleimide(N-PMI) was found to be possible in the mixture of benzene/THF/DMSO at room temperature using polymeric alkoxide as an initiator. In this study the polymeric alkoxide was obtained from n-butyllithium-initiated ring-opening polymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide in the mixture of benzene/DMSO at 35℃, followed by polymerization of N-phenylmaleimide. From the resulting block copolymer, the THF-soluble N-PMI fragment was deimidized in DMSO at 120℃ using hydrazine monohydrate. We can get PEO-b-PMAc and PEO-b-PMAHD depending upon the deimidation condition. PEO-b-PMAHD-DOX could be synthesized by the reaction with doxorubicin in DMSO. The resulting material was used as a polymeric stabilizer for preparation of nano-sized iron oxide particles. |
