Effective bottom cathode structure for enhancing the electron injection in top emission inverted OLEDs. |

Top emission organic light emitting devices (TEOLEDs) have recently attracted considerable attention because of their potential applications in full color flat panel displays. Major disadvantage of a bottom emission structure is that the emission aperture shares the substrate with the device electronics, potentially limiting the pixel aperture. This could be avoided by employing the top emission structure. Top emission inverted OLEDs (TEIOLEDs) would render feasible use of generally superior n-type transistors rather than p-type transistors in the active matrix OLEDs (AMOLEDs) pixel circuitry and further enhance performance. Highly efficient TEIOLEDs can be prepared by the reflective bottom cathode providing effective electron injection. In this study, we investigated to TEIOLEDs using e-beam evaporated Al cathode and reported an effective bottom cathode structure for enhancing the electron injection. |
