Nano-structure formation of diblock copolymers usually occurs with many defects due to the entropic fluctuation. In case of structurally confined system, however, we can obtain various perfectly aligned nano-structures by simply controlling parameters such as the interaction strength between polymer and the container wall. Size and shape of the container and the surface tension between components are also key parameters of this system. In this study, we simulate the behavior of diblock copolymers in structurally confined hemispherical and ellipsoidal systems using numerically implemented Self-Consistent Field Theory. As the interaction between one domain and the air increases, standard lamellar phase is transformed to onion-shape lamellar phase. At a different parameter regime, a transition from spherical phase to cylindrical phase is also observed. Other interesting morphologies are found in ellipsoid-shaped confinements, which strongly depend on the eccentricity of ellipsoid. |
