Polypyrrole(PPy)/carbon nanotubes coated unwoven ceramic fabrics for supercapacitor applications |

In this study, PPy was coated on carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/ceramic fabrics substrate by chemical polymerization, which was applied to a supercapacitor electrode. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method was used to grow CNTs on ceramic fabrics. The porous structure of ceramic paper and large surface area of CNTs provide enhanced power characteristics for supercapacitor. PPy provide not only adhesion of interface between CNTs and ceramic fabrics but also capacitance as one of active materials. The optimal conditions for the preparation of PPy/CNTs/ceramic fiber were examined as function of growth time of CNTs and polymerization time. The morphology of PPy/ceramic fiber was confirmed by SEM and TEM, and the capacitance of the electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge /discharge. |
