We designed and synthesized phenothiazine-based novel organic dye for DSSCs. Two novel organic dyes(PH-1 and PH-2) containing phenothiazine(PTZ) moiety as an electron donor, phenoxazine as an additional donor and bridge unit are synthesized. Nanocrystalline TiO2 based DSSCs were fabricated using dyes. Under standard global AM 1.5 solar condition, the PH-1-sensitized cell gave a short-circuit photocurrent density(Jsc) of 8.084mAcm-2, an open-circuit voltage(Voc) of 0.683V, and a fill factor of 56.3. These values correspond to an overall conversion efficiency(η) of 3.11%. By comparison, the PH-2-sensitized cell resulted in a Jsc of 12.503mAcm-2, a Voc of 0.642V, and fill factor of 62.23. These values give an overall conversion efficiency of 4.99%. |
