Even though many studies have been carried out for nonionic surfactant systems, no systematic data have been reported on phase behavior study in NPE surfactant systems. This work describes a series of systematic investigations performed in order to elucidate the microemulsion phase behavior of NPE surfactant systems with special emphasis on the effect of cosurfactant on possible formation of a bicontinuous middle-phase microemulsion. In addition, an oil drop contacting technique was used to observe the time-dependent behavior of NPE surfactant system along with dynamic interfacial tesnion measurement to characterize the microemulsion systems. |
