제목 Generation of Ketene by Thermolysis and Its Utility in Polymer Matrix
초록 Although ketene has been recognized as one of the most versatile functional groups in organic chemistry, it has seen fewer applications in polymer science probably due to the limited generation method and instability arising from its high reactivity. Recently we have demonstrated that ketene can be readily generated by thermolysis of Meldrum’s acid moieties in polymer matrix and some of the resulting ketenes survive after self-dimerization during the thermolysis conditions. This dual function of ketene, self-dimerization and conjugation with nucleophiles, provides various applications in polymer materials such as fabrication of reactive polymer films and cross-linked polymer nanoparticles. We have also investigated the thermolysis kinetics of Meldrum’s acid containing polymers and the effect of polymer matrix on the thermolysis rate.
