제목 Thermal cyclization of aromatic polyhydroxyamide and its derivatives
초록 Wholly aromatic polybenzoxazoles(PBO) are well established as high performance materials with excellent thermal stability and mechanical properties. Aromatic polyhydroxyamides(PHA) can be used for the precursor polymer to PBO. PHA or derivatized PHA can be converted into PBO by heating with release of water or other small molecules.
In this study, we have synthesized the PHA and the PHA derivatives containing alkyl ester groups. The structural analyses of PHA and derivatized PHA were performed by 1H-NMR spectroscopy using a Unity Inova 400 NMR spectrometer on a DMSO-d6 solution. Degree of cyclization and the activation energy of the cyclization reaction of these polymers were measured by DSC and TGA respectively.
Cyclization temperature decreased with alkyl side group length of PHA derivatives and cyclization reaction of PHA derivatives was faster than that of the PHA.
