The cross-linked SPEEK membranes were prepared by radiation cross-linking SPEEK film for a comparative study of proton exchange membranes (PEM) for fuel cell applications. The cross-liked SPEEKs with various contents of cross-linking agent were prepared and characterized. Thermal stability, uptake behavior, ionic exchange capacity (IEC), proton conductivity of the cross-liked SPEEK membranes were determined as a function of the contents of cross-linking agent. The results of DSC show that the DOS increase at the glass transition temperature as the membranes shifts to the lower temperature. The water uptake, IEC and proton conductivity increases with decreasing cross-linking agent content. The effect of cross-liked SPEEK membranes on the properties is also discussed. |
