제목 Effect of the electron-withdrawing groups on DPP-based small molecules for OPVs
초록 Organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs) have the advantages of flexible, low cost, and bulk production. Various donor-acceptor type low-band gap small molecules and polymers have been developed showing high power conversion efficiencies upto 10%. In addition, the introduction of electron-withdrawing groups such as halogens and carbonyls into the molecular backbone of donor materials has resulted in high-performance OPV cells. We prepared a series of diketopyrrolopyrrole-thiophene-based small molecules containing various electron withdrawing substituents of cyanide, nitro, and ester groups by Suzuki coupling reaction in good yields. The physical properties including thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties varied according to the introduced substituents. OPV cells were fabricated using new small molecules as donors as well as acceptors in active layers.
