Fabrication of complementary inverter based on organic semicoductors and polymeric gate insulator on a single substrate |

Organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) have attracted considerable interest in recent years because of their many potential applications, such as flexible, large-area, and low-cost electronic devices. Organic complementary inverter was fabricated by integrating two transistors of different electric type based on a polymeric gate insulator on a single glass substrate using a spin-coating and thermal vacuum evaporation method. Copper hexafluorophthalocyanine (F16CuPc) and pentacene were used as n-channel and p-channel semiconductor for the organic inverter, respectively. The F16CuPc [length(L)=50μm, width(W)=4000μm)] and pentacene (L=250μm, W=200μm) OTFTs had field-effect mobilities of 0.003 and 0.4 cm2/Vs, respectively. The voltage transfer characteristics showed that the organic inverter properly functions. The inversion voltage of the inverter was around 32V. The inverter gain, defined as the absolute value of (dVout/dVin), reached around 10.2. |
