제목 2D and 3D clustering via self-assembly of Janus cylinder with tunable geometry, hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity
초록 Herein, we demonstrate generation of 2D and 3D clusters formed by self-assembly of Janus cylinders. Micromolding combined with iCVD process enables synthesis of Janus cylinder with tunable geometry on the top surface (flat-top and convex-top) and controlled hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity. Flat-top Janus cylinders assemble into 2D clusters by face-to-face interaction. The number of particles consisting 2D cluster are tunable depending on the degree of hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity, Convex-top Janus cylinder assemble into simple clusters and densely packing 3D suprastructure depending on the hydrophobicity. The result implies that geometrical and chemical property of Janus cylinder is important to design self-assembly. We envision that our study provides a new insight into a novel route for directional microparticle assembly.
