Thermosensitive poly(organophosphazene) hydrogel for injectable tissue engineering applications |

The poly(organophosphazene) hydrogel which exhibited the thermoreversible sol-gel transition behavior against the temperature was synthesized. A viscometric measurement indicated that the thermosensitive hydrogel could be formed at body temperature from the polymer solutions in concentrations of 10 wt%. In this work, the poly(organophosphazene) hydrogel was evaluated as an injectable tissue engineering matrix in vivo system. 10 wt% solution of poly(organophosphazene) containing MC3T3-E1 mouse preosteoblast and collagen was subcutaneously injected into the nude mice. Cellular proliferation gradually increased during the injection period given in the concentration of collagen (0.01 wt%). Proliferation of MC3T3-E1 cells is dramatically enhanced in the poly(organophosphazene) hydrogel containing collagen in a nude mouse model. These results suggest that poly(organophosphazene) hydrogel containing collagen is utilized as injectable cell carrier for tissue engineering applications. |
