제목 Flexible Display Substrate Development
초록 Development for next generation display has been set forth in the direction of flexible displays. From signage type displays to high resolution active matrix displays, many attempts are being made to show potential use of flexible displays. The flexible display certainly will use flexible substrate, most likely plastic films. However, the exact form and function of the plastic substrate have not been settled yet. Plastic films of differnet optical, thermal and mechanical properties are being investigated to meet the demand of the display industry. In the mean time, to secure the long disaplay life, gas barrier property becomes key issue in the substrate development. Coating technology has been employed to improve the inferior gas barrier property of plastic films. In this paper, key issues for the flexible display substrate development will be reviewed. Our research on the topic will be discussed focusing on the key issues. Different plastic films of interest will be compared.
