As the carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere continue to increase, considerable concern has been raised regarding the impact of carbon dioxide emissions on the environment and its contribution to global climate change. In order to investigate the carbon dioxide adsorption, we prepared cellulose-based activated carbon fibers by heat treatment and chemical activation. The cellulose-based carbon fibers were activated by chemical activation agent like KOH which produce micropore mainly. To confirm development of pore, the BET specific surface area and pore size distribution were investigated. The quantity adsorbed of carbon dioxide was also assessed at 0 and 25 ℃. The prepared samples of high specific surface area which has micropore captured high quantity of carbon dioxide at these temperatures. |
