PCL has been intensively studied as a copolymer for biomedical devices and drug carrier, with its unique nontoxicity and biocompatibility. PCL dissolved in DMF/MC has been already electrospun as a membrane consisting of nano-sized fibers at atmospheric pressure, and then the electrospun PCL membranes were analyzed by various methods. R. Rangkupan and D. H. Reneker reported electrospinning process from molten polymer under vacuum in 2001. In this work, we have prepared PCL membranes by electrospinning in a vacuum desiccator which enables decrease pressure to ∼ - 76cmHg. We have studied the effect of decreasing pressure on the electrospining process. As the result, it was shown different morphology between the process at atmospheric pressure and in vacuum. Electrospun PCL membranes under vacuum have been analyzed by using SEM, X-ray and Instron (tensile test).
