Gas transport through the membrane is related with physical properties of gas molecules and membrane materials. According to the solution-diffusion mechanism, gas permeability of polymer membrane is defined as a product of gas solubility and diffusivity coefficients. The diffusivity coefficient is how fast the gases can pass through membranes, and the solubility coefficient is the affinity between gases and membrane materials. Thermally rearranged (TR) polymer membranes have been researched as membrane materials which exhibit outstanding gas separation performances for CO2 separation. We measured the gas permeability, diffusivity, and solubility to study on gas transport properties. Solubility coefficients from sorption behavior were studied by pressure decay method at high pressure with small gas molecules such as H2, CO2, O2, N2, and CH4. |
