Micro-rod Superstructures of Adenine and Thymine Derivatives through Hydrogen Bonding Controlled Self-assembly |
초록 |
Long chain-substituted adenine and thymine have been synthesized and their self-assembly is investigated in various solvent media. The effect of Van der Waals force via alkyl chains and complementary hydrogen bonding between adenine and thymine, results in interesting solution morphologies. The interaction of these forces are solvent dependent hence we investigated effect of solvent for anisotropic morphologies. The 0.05 wt. % mixture of adenine and thymine derivatives in THF/methanol self-assemble in micro-rods with the average length ~ 300 nm. Further we found these assemblies are concentration dependent and with increasing concentration of t forms well-defined spherical morphologies of microscale (2-3 μm) size. Interestingly these assemblies depend proportion of solvent-non-solvent, a nanorods obtained in THF/water (1/0.2 v/v) converts to nanofibers with increasing proportion of water THF/water (1/1 v/v), with water proportion above (1/1 v/v) the nanofibers grow in thickness. |
