제목 Solid-Salt Pressure Retarded Osmosis with exothermic dissolution energy
초록 A salinity gradient power (SGP) system holds a great potential to generate continuous and clean electricity for 24 hours. Because the fundamental energy of SGP is the concentration different (i.e., osmotic pressure difference), various groups have been trying to develop the power density using various salty sources, based on a Van’t Hoff equation. This study demonstrates solid-salt pressure retarded osmosis (PRO) systems with high solubility as well as exothermic dissolution energy. Throughout both effects, the maximum power density is 1.36 kW/m2 at 360 bar when CaCl2 is selected as a model material, and solid crystal form CaCl2 of 1 Ton can produce the electricity of 1.8 MW. A HTI-FS flat-type cellular acetate membrane was introduced into solid-salt PRO systems to confirm the calculated the power density of solid-salt SGP, the power density of 3 M CaCl2 draw solutions was 11 W/m2 with exothermic energy and 8.9 W/m2 without that at 35 bar.
