Thermoreversible phase transition of diblock copolymers composed of polyethylene glycol and biodegradable polyesters. |
초록 |
Temperature-sensitive polymer have been investigated extensively for the controlled-release drug carrier of medical application. Especially, PEG-based diblock and triblock polyester copolymer were studied as injectable drug deliverly system because of their nontoxicity, biocompatibility and biodegradability in the past. We investigated the effect of hydrophobic part of amphiphilic block copolymer consisting of methoxy Polyethylene glycol and polyesters, such as ε-caprolactone, L-lactide, glycolide and γ-valreolactone, in the gel-sol phase transition. The diblock copolymers were synthesized by ring opening polymerization in the presence of catalysts. The copolymer molecular weight and composition were controlled by changing the initiator/monomer molar ratio. We could confirm the synthesized block copolymers formed micelle above the critical micelle concentration (CMC) in water using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the atomic force microscopy (AFM). The concentrated solution of these diblock copolymers represented a gel to sol phase transition as the temperature increased. We verified the fact that gel-sol transition point as function of concentration and temperature was influenced by the hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance of the copoymer, block length, and hydrophobicity.
