제목 Study on oxygen consumption rate and degradation mechanism of rubber O-rings with thermal accelerated aging test
초록 Aging test and lifetime prediction of rubber materials are very critical procedure for product design in the industry to assure the safety and reliability. The function of O-ring seals is to prevent leakage during the service life of the components in which they are installed. In this study, Accelerated thermal aging test was used to investigate the degradation mechanism though oxygen consumption rate of NBR(Nitrile-butadiene rubber), Silicone rubber and Fluorocarbon rubber O-ring. The samples were aged with the thermal-oxygen accelerated aging conditions of 500, 1000 and 2000 hours at 20,40,60 and 80℃. Oxygen consumption rates of three types O-rings measured by using gas phase analysis system(GC). The changes of chemical structure was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). Thermal properties and morphologies were investigated with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively.
