Nitroalkyl acrylate polymers have been studied as the energetic binder in the field of propellants and explosives. Among them, 2,2-dinitropropyl acrylate(DNPA) polymer has been applied to the plastic bonded explosive(PBX). In this study, poly(2,2-dinitropropyl acrylate-co-3-azidopropyl acrylate) was synthesized using cotrolled/living radical polymerization. This CRP method facilitates the preparation of a broad variety of polymeric materials with predetermined molecular weight, narrow molecular weight distributions. Azide containing copolymer can be coupled with acetylene. It called "click chemistry". Utilizing this click technology, various PBX formulations are possible. |
