The copolymerization of Olefin (Ethylene and Propylene) and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (E-POSS, E-Si-POSS, P-POSS) have been performed with C2 symmetric ansa-metallocene catalyst in conjunction with modified methylaluminoxane. A wide range of POSS concentrations were obtained in these Polyolefin with POSS copolymers. And the copolymers have been characterized with FT-IR, 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. For Ethylene with POSS copolymers, the unreacted POSS monomer was removed completely by washing n-hexane. But, for Propylene with POSS copolymers, due to the copolymers being partial soluble in n-hexane, the unreacted POSS monomer was removed by n-hexane/ethanol mixture. The mixed proportion was decided by POSS solubility. |
