CO2 gas is the most significant long-lived greenhouse gas in Earth's atmosphere. The CO2 gas released into the atmosphere as a result of burning fossil fuels. To address the challenges of atmospheric CO2 gas, graphene oxide (GO) and amine-functionalized polymer matrix are widely used because of their high gas barrier properties and gas selectivity. GO mainly worked as a gas barrier. Silk fibroin (SF), a natural biopolymer extracted from the silkworm, has a structure-controllable ability at the molecular level depending external conditions. We successfully fabricated structure-controllable composite GO and SF with spray and shear force. The secondary structure of SF inside the composite was controlled at the molecular level to form the β-sheet structure by MeOH treatment. The formation of the β-sheet makes it possible to increase the density of the amine group, maintain the permeability and free volume of the N2 gas, and adsorb only the CO2 gas. |
