Self-healing polyurethanes containing boronic ester groups |
초록 |
The self-healing materials recover their functions by restoring the physical damage, fracture, and cracks. Considerable studies on self-healing properties of bulk materials have been developed. Boronic ester-containing molecules, which are known to form a variety of dynamic-covalent bonds by reacting with diols, have been utilized for self-healing applications. Dynamic-covalent bonds can be readily controlled by temperature or the addition of water. Polyurethanes were synthesized with boronic esters, polytetramethylene ether glycol, and multi-isocyanates. When scratches exposed to the moisture in the atmosphere, hydrolysis occurs on the surface and healing is caused by re-esterification. Polymerization results and mechanical properties including self-healing were discussed. |
