Ruthenium adsorbed by the silica nanoparticles (SNPs) surface is made using the impregnation method. To avoid the accumulation of ruthenium particles, the surface area was increased using SNPs. The SEM, TEM, XRD and XPS techniques were used to analyse the as synthesized catalyst. The catalytic activity was attuned with 4-nitrophenol and Ru@SNPs. The Ru@SNPs showed excellent performance for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol. The catalyst demonstrated excellent yield and higher conversion than Ru@silica(Bulk) in 4-nitrophenol reduction reaction. Furthermore, the reaction was also carried out with SNPs kept for a long time but no product formation confirmed that Ru is the active species in the recation. |
