Enhanced Efficiency in Organic Solar Cells by Incorporation of Ruthenium Complexes as Cathode Interlayer |

Bulk heterojunction solar cells were fabricated based on Ruthenium complexes with different ligands (2,2’-bipirydine-4-carboxylic acid (RubiPy) and thiocyanate (N719)) as cathode interlayers. Ruthenium complexes were contributed to the decreasing of the surface defect on ZnO layer, and additionally reduce the electron injection barrier between the photoactive layer and ZnO layer, which enhances the charge generation, transportation, and collection. According to our study, inserting the ruthenium complexes as the interlayer increase the performance of the device based on PC71BM:PTB7 as the active layer. A slight difference in the performance of the devices was showed by replacing the ligand from RubiPy (8.05%) to N719 (8.08%). |
