Recently, the polar regions are getting a lot of attention, this is because many countries are interested in the resource development and carving out north pole route. So, the demand for polar ship is gradually increasing. However study on antifouling paint applicable to polar ship is not enough yet. Antifouling paint has been developed to prevent the settlement of fouling organisms. One of the many antifouling ways is to coat the immersed surface with paints having fouling release property. In this study, poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS)-block-polyurethane(PU)-block-poly(dimethylsiloxane) triblock copolymers were synthesized as fouling release coating applicable to polar ship by addition polymerization. Synthesis and properties of PDMS-b-PU-b-PDMS triblock copolymers were investigated by fourier transform-infrared spectrometer, gel permeation chromatography, universal testing machine and contact angle measurement. |
