A biosorbent fiber was developed to recovery ruthenium in factorial wastewater. Polyethylenimine (PEI)-modified bacterial biosorbent fiber was prepared and used to evaluate the effect of thickness of biosorbent fiber on the initial rate of sorption and uptake capacity for ruthenium sorption from ruthenium-bearing acetic acid wastewater. The kinetic experiment revealed that the initial rate of sorption was under 0.0245 min-1 which was calculated using pseudo-second-order model. The ruthenium maximum uptake exhibited the following order: 438 ㎛ > 1230 ㎛ > 2502 ㎛ > amberjet 4200. Therefore, the smaller thickness of biosorbent was, the greater ruthenium sorption capacity there would be, and initial rate of sorption was constant irrespective of thickness of biosorbent fibers. |
