Effect of a compatibilizer on the morphology of sPAES/PVDF/UAN composite membrane for redox flow battery |
초록 |
Polymer electrolyte membranes based on sulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) (sPAES) / poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) / Urethane acrylate non-ionomer (UAN) were prepared for the redox flow battery (RFB) applications. The blend membranes based on sPAES and PVdF showed low compatibility, due to the hydrophilic character of sPAES and the hydrophobic character of PVDF. In order to enhance the miscibility between sPAES and PVdF polymer, UAN was used as a compatibilizer at low content. The enhancement of the compatibility of blend membrane has been confirmed through Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that the addition of a compatibilizer improved the membrane properties, such as proton conductivity, water uptake, and mechanical strength. |
