제목 Hybrid Core/Shell SiO2@Au-TiO2 Nanostructures Utilizing Block Copolymer Templates for Enhanced Photocatalytic Activities
초록 Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanostructures have been counted as one of the best candidates for photocatalysis due to its relative chemical and thermal stability. Since pure TiO2 excitons have faster recombination rate, many works have been devoted to channelize the excitons. Modification of TiO2 with noble metals is one of the simple methods to direct electrons, thus hampering the recombination rate of excitons. Core-shell structures are of central area of focus here. Silica beads of microsize were used as the core, which were coated with nanostructured TiO2 shells by using block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly and sol-gel chemistry. Appropriate amount of BCP-TiO2 sol-gel mixture was used to develop a thin coating of polymer dot-TiO2 matrix nanostructure on silica beads by immersing them in the BCP-TiO2 solution, followed by calcinations to obtain mesoporous TiO2. The surface of the core-shell structure was decorated with gold nanoparticles. The enhanced catalytic activity was studied.
