Block copolymers self-assemble to produce various nanostructures including spheres, cylinders, double gyroids and lamellae, depending on the relative volume fraction of the constituent components. Their blends exhibit more complicated phase behavior. In previous works, two kinds of cylinder-forming block copolymers were blended for a use as templates for the formation of ordered arrays of domains. Well-controlled ordered structures were obtained and selective functionalization by nanoparticles was achieved along the nanostructure of block copolymer blend films. In this work, block copolymer blends of PS-b-PEO and PS-b-P2VP including lamellae-forming block copolymer were used and coated on the silicon wafers to extend the morphological space available to the organization of inorganic nanoparticles. To control the orientation and ordering solvent annealing was carried out. The gold nanoparticles were then incorporated along the microdomains of block copolymer blends. |
