제목 In Vivo Evaluation of Bioactive Porous Beadsas an Injectable Urethral Bulking Agent
초록 Urinary incontinence, which is defined as the involuntary loss of urine, may be caused by uretheal hypermobility and/or intrinsic sphincter deficiency. Injectable bulking agents have been used in the treatment of urinary incontinence. In our previous study, we prepared growth factor (bFGF and VEGF)-loaded porous polycaprolactone (PCL)/Pluronic F127 beads as an injectable bioactive bulking agent. In this study, the growth factor-loaded bioactive porous beads were injected into the urethral wall of urinary incontinence rat model to estimate the induction potential of smooth muscle which may improve the sphincter muscle function around the urethra. From the animal study, it was observed that the bFGF-loaded porous beads have a significantly faster smooth muscle regeneration and thus higher cure rate for the urinary incontinence than other groups (This research was supported by a grant from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (M10711060001-08M1106-00110)).
