Hierarchical Nanoneedle Arrays of Carbon Dots Conjugated NiCo2O4 /NF as an Efficient Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction and Oxygen Evolution Reaction |

Here, we have grown the nanoneedle arrays of carbon dot (CD) conjugated NiCo2O4 on nickel foam by using the hydrothermal self‐assembly to construct a binder free electrode with bifunctional electrocatalytic activity for both HER and OER in alkaline medium. The results showed a low overpotential of 146 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 for HER and 390 mV at a current density of 50 mA cm−2 for OER in 1.0 M KOH with excellent durability. The CD offers abundant active sites into the CD/NiCo2O4 catalyst resulting in enhanced electron transfer processes within the hierarchical structured components. The work represents a lucrative method for the fabrication of bifunctional electrocatalysts with high efficiency and exceptional stability.
