Redox active metal organic framework (MOF’s) and their derivatives have applications in the field of biosensor detection. Dopamine (DA) is a catechol and amine-containing neurotransmitter found in the central nervous system. It plays a key role in our everyday activities such as movement, pleasure, mood, and focus. Herein, we have synthesized a viologen/Cu-MOF composite and tested it application for voltammetry detection of DA in 0.1M (pH=7.4) buffer solution using glassy carbon electrode (GCE) as a support. The viologen/Cu-MOF/GCE detects small amount of DA (10 μM to 100 μM) with high sensitivity. The aromatic functionality in MOF showed the ability to selectively adsorb DA over uric acid and ascorbic acid and hence displays excellent selectivity for DA. Therefore, viologen/Cu-MOF/GCE displays promising voltametric detection capability for DA making it a good candidate for sensor development. |
